Family YMCA Aquatics
Welcome to Family YMCA Aquatics where it is our goal to teach every child how to swim. The Aquatics Department at the Family YMCA is dedicated to serving our community for all aspects of aquatics including swim lessons, health and fitness programs, recreational or skill-based opportunities and lifeguard training and education.
To adequately serve our members and guests, we ask that you make yourself aware with the Aquatics Policies listed below.
Safety
All children under the age of six (6) must be accompanied by an adult in the water.

Swim Lesson Policies
The Family YMCA reserves the right to limit the number of class participants depending on the use of the pool for other programs.
The Family YMCA reserves the right to combine classes due to low enrollment. A minimum of five students is required to run a class.
Parent Observation Days are limited to the first and last day of each session.
Shower First
Please ensure that you have visited the bathroom and showered before entering the pool. If you are not wet, the lifeguards will ask you to shower first.
Swim Diapers
If your child is not toilet trained, they MUST wear a swim diaper. You may bring your own or purchase one at the Welcome Center.
Class Time or Observation Policy
We would like all parents to bring their children onto the pool deck. Once the children have been successfully placed with their teacher, parents are asked to wait in the hallway and watch through the windows. This is more comfortable for the parent since it is cooler, and it is less distracting for the child. At the end of the class, parents may return to collect their child a few minutes prior to the end of class. We have limited space on the pool deck and at this busy time, we ask that strollers be kept off the pool deck.
Photographs
We know that every parent wants to take photographs of their child’s development. However, we ask that this be done only during the last lesson of the course. This will give you a record of your child’s achievement and be less disruptive to the child and the instructor.
